Great food. Very friendly mom and pop restaurant.
Big Grill has never let me down. The food is great, the servers are friendly and I am satisfied every time I leave.
Been 2x and I live on the peninsula. Loved it! The love and genuine local atmosphere is the best. The food is made with care like no other. ??
I love this place so much. The staff is super friendly and although the place is small its very accommodating. The food is great and the prices are decent

I eat there when I don't feel like making breakfast
Not familiar with the area and I just wanted a simple breakfast. Not at a big box chain or some pretentious brunch bistro. Found this place on yelp and it did not disappoint. Small place in a tiny strip mall but don't be fooled. One waitress doing it all and she seemed to know most of the people. One regular came over to our table to share a joke on his way out. Friendly. Clean. Delicious. Reasonable prices. I'll be back next time I'm in town.
Wow! Not what I expected! The Big Grill is a classic diner in a small space. I had a classic steak and eggs breakfast with hash browns. The steak was big, tender, and juicy. I would say it's one of the best breakfast steaks I've had...ever...anywhere. That's all I'm going to say on that topic. Otherwise, the hashbrowns were tasty and came with the option to add whatever extras you wanted like peppers, onions, mushrooms, etc. That was a nice option. The service was friendly and attentive. I liked the fact that the coffee cups are an eclectic mix that could have come straight out of grandma's cupboard. It's a small thing but gives you the feeling that The Big Grill is like a home that cares about its guests.
I am not much of a breakfast person. But when my husband and I were in Norfolk for the weekend, this was one of the places that he wanted to try out.
The Big Grill is nice, cosy and locally owned restaurant. It was exactly what I was looking for-a place owned by locals, frequented by locals! We were seated as soon as we walked in-and we came just at the right time too because it had gotten quite busy by the time we left. We placed our orders with the friendly server and we didn't wait long for our food to arrive.
The portions are quite generous. I had the Southwestern Omelette and it was delicious. Stuffed with ham, mushrooms, tomatoes green peppers, cheese and topped with salsa, jalapeño and sour cream, I enjoyed every single bite! My husband ordered their French toast as well as the Western Omelette. I will tell you, not much talking was done because we were busy enjoying our food!
I make it a point to always try and eat at a place that's locally owned when visiting a new place. You can tell a lot about the city and its people when you eat at local businesses. The Big Grill is definitely a place I would visit and eat at if we ever find ourselves in the Virginia Beach/Norfolk area again!
Friendly local place, friendly wait staff. Hot and delicious coffee. I got the big breakfast sandwich. Delicious and hot. A++
